Biden hails Lebanon ceasefire deal as ‘good news’

President Joe Biden welcomed a US and French-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, aiming for peace in Gaza as well. The deal, set to start at 4:00 am local time Wednesday, was approved by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Biden credited French President Emmanuel Macron for his role in achieving the agreement, which aims for a “permanent cessation of hostilities” and could lead to broader peace efforts in the region.
