L&T's Spanish partner rolls out new stealth tech for submarines

In a significant development, L&T’s foreign partner has introduced new stealth technology on a Spanish Navy submarine, enhancing its underwater endurance to three weeks, a crucial feature for the Indian Navy’s submarine contract. The integration of bio ethanol stealth technology (BEST) on the S 83 submarine is part of a joint bid by Navantia and L&T, competing against Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) and Mazagon Dockyards Ltd (MDL) for the lucrative contract. Despite initial setbacks, Navantia-L&T remains in contention, prompting the establishment of a new technical oversight committee by the defense ministry to assess the selection process and ensure fairness.
