Dr. Shadrack Ngene emphasized the importance of integrating wildlife considerations into climate change negotiations at the annual UN Climate Change Conference in Baku. The event, “Wildlife Protection and Food Systems Transformation,” highlighted steps for governments to boost their Climate Action Plans by aligning food systems, wildlife conservation, and climate targets. Ngene, Wildlife Secretary in Kenya, underscored the need to implement strategies like water provision for elephants and expanding community conservancies to address the impact of the 2022 drought on Kenya’s wildlife population.
