Police try to identify Aussie romance scam victims following a scam centre raid in Manila

Authorities are working to identify Australians who fell victim to romance scams after a raid on a scam centre in Manila led to the arrest of 250 alleged cyber criminals, with the AFP collaborating with Philippine authorities to execute the search warrant. More than 190 foreign nationals and 68 Filipinos were arrested for immigration offences, with police seizing hundreds of computers, thousands of sim cards, and mobile phones. The AFP, along with technical and cryptocurrency experts, are working with the Philippines Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission and National Bureau of Investigation to gather information on the scam operations targeting Australian men through social media and dating apps for fraudulent cryptocurrency investments.
