An ‘unexpected odor’ was reported at the space station

Operators of the ISS were alerted to an unexpected odor coming from the Russian Progress cargo spacecraft docked at the station, which brought 2.5 tons of supplies. Russian cosmonauts noticed the odor and unidentified liquid upon opening the spacecraft’s hatch, leading to precautionary measures. After confirming normal air quality, NASA reported that the odor dissipated, possibly due to outgassing, and cargo transfer is proceeding as scheduled despite past incidents involving Russian spacecraft at the ISS.
