The most contentious seat was Behali in Assam, where BJP’s Diganta Ghatowal emerged victorious, leading to the resignation of Assam Congress president Bhupen Borah. The bypolls were held due to vacancies created by MLAs being elected to the Lok Sabha earlier this year, with BJP making significant gains in the region.
