Spain’s Ministry of Consumer Rights fined five low-budget airlines a total of 179 million euros for abusive practices, including charging additional cabin luggage fees. Ryanair received the largest penalty of 107.78 million euros, while Vueling and EasyJet were fined 39.2 million euros and 29 million euros, respectively. The airlines must cease the practice of charging for cabin luggage and other fees deemed “disproportionate and abusive” by the ministry.
