In 2024, a record number of 281 aid workers and humanitarians have been killed globally, with the Middle East being the main cause of bloodshed, according to the United Nations. The majority of those killed were national staff, with the threats extending beyond Gaza to countries like Afghanistan, Congo, South Sudan, and Ukraine. Since the conflict between Israel and Hamas began in 2023, a total of 333 humanitarians have been killed, with the death toll in the Gaza Strip surpassing 44,000, including civilians, women, and children.
