In response to severe pollution levels in the National Capital Region, the Director of Higher Education, Haryana has directed all higher education institutions in Gurugram, including private ones, to switch to online classes until further notice. The air quality index in Gurugram was reported at 206, classified as “very unhealthy”, prompting the decision. Schools in western Uttar Pradesh districts under the NCR have also been instructed to move to online learning due to the deteriorating air quality, following the revised Graded Response Action Plan which mandates school closures in Delhi and NCR districts under certain stages.
