US regulators plan to investigate Microsoft’s cloud business, FT reports

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission is set to investigate Microsoft’s cloud computing business for potential anti-competitive practices, including allegations of abusing market power in productivity software by imposing punitive licensing terms to hinder customers from switching to other platforms. Tactics under scrutiny include increased subscription fees for those leaving Azure, steep exit fees, and allegations of Office 365 products being incompatible with rival clouds. Both FTC and Microsoft have refrained from commenting on the matter.
