Former Home and Away star Orpheus Pledger, who played Mason Morgan on the soap, successfully appealed a seven-month prison sentence for assaulting a woman twice, including stomping on her head. Despite his character being killed off, he was spared more jail time and instead placed on a community corrections order for 150 hours of unpaid community work and treatment for mental health issues and drug abuse. Pledger’s barrister cited his remorse, guilty plea, and prospects of rehabilitation in securing the lighter sentence after the actor spent 97 days in pre-sentence detention.
