Autopsy shows no sign of trauma in death of DeMotte man after police altercation

The Lake County Coroner’s Office determined that DeMotte man Rhyker Earl, 26, died of natural causes, showing cardiovascular disease and no trauma after an altercation with police at his home in September. Earl died two days after being removed from life support, with attorneys claiming he was restrained face-down during a seizure. The Indiana State Police investigated the incident, which resulted in Earl’s death being ruled as natural, despite allegations of mistreatment by officers.
