The continent’s efforts to strengthen vaccine manufacturing capabilities, aligning with the PAVM framework, aim to reduce maternal and child mortality, prevent diseases like HPV and hepatitis B, and ensure equitable access to life-saving products. While progress has been made with operational companies in several African countries, further research and development efforts are needed to achieve self-reliance and address the reliance on global suppliers, aligning with milestones like the RTS, S/AS01 malaria vaccine and Lenacapavir for HIV prevention.
