Robotaxis open for business in Los Angeles

Starting Tuesday, Waymo will launch its Waymo One service in Los Angeles County, allowing residents to hail driverless robotaxis on surface streets through their app 24/7. The company, owned by Alphabet, has been testing its sensor-laden cars in L.A. and currently operates over 100 vehicles in the city, with plans to incrementally increase. Although Waymo has experienced minor crashes, including one on a freeway, the company aims to expand its autonomous freeway driving capabilities in the future.
