The UK’s Prime Minister has approved a new multibillion-pound fighter jet project with Italy and Japan, aiming to create a sixth generation jet after the US. The Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) combines Japan’s F-X program with the UK and Italy’s Tempest project, with a target to deliver a supersonic jet by 2035. The partnership involves major defense companies and aims to address rising threats from Russia and China. The Tempest jet is expected to be one of the most advanced and connected fighter jets globally.
