A woman working in the paddy fields in Manipur’s Bishnupur district was gunned down by suspected hills-based militants, sparking tension in the village. The incident took place in Saiton area as militants opened fire on farmers, leading to the woman’s death on the spot. This adds to the ongoing violence between Meitei and Kuki communities in Manipur, with over 200 people killed since May 2023.
