Orlando Farnese, a British soldier born to Italian immigrants, was among the first wave of troops to land at Sword Beach during the Normandy Landings in June 1944. Despite facing heavy German resistance, he played a crucial role in capturing the German gun battery at Ouistreham and securing the beach. Tragically, Orlando was killed in action at just 25 years old, leaving behind a legacy of bravery and sacrifice in the Battle of Normandy.

Man (60s) dies working on farm in Co Donegal – The Irish Times
