Former Louisville police officer Brett Hankison was acquitted of violating the civil rights of three of Breonna Taylor’s neighbors in a retrial, but the jury deadlocked on a count charging him with violating Taylor’s civil rights. Hankison fired 10 rounds through Taylor’s sliding glass door during a botched 2020 raid, resulting in no injuries, and argued that he was trying to protect himself and his partners. This marked the third trial for Hankison, who was previously acquitted of wanton endangerment charges in a state trial.
