Statistics Canada’s podcast, Eh Sayers, cost $773,217 to produce with expenses including editing software, publishing tools, and payroll. The podcast had episodes discussing topics such as the revitalization of the Cree language and Canada’s population surpassing 40 million. Another podcast, CCI and CHIN: In Our Words, produced by Canadian Heritage, cost $155,736 for seven episodes between 2019 and 2021, with expenses for licenses, hosting services, equipment, and training. These costs have raised concerns about the value and effectiveness of government-produced podcasts.
