Ashburton Contractors Limited (ACL) partnered with Ashburton College students to plant a 100-metre stretch of native plants on their industrial worksite, aiming to involve the community and provide work experience for students. The project, supported by EnviroTech and Smithscape landscapers, involved purchasing 1800 native plants to create a habitat for birds and bees, with the goal of transforming the area in three to four years. The initiative was praised by Ashburton College’s head of agriculture as a hands-on learning opportunity for students to see the tangible results of their efforts.
