Coventry student who hid newborn baby in cereal box convicted of murder

Jia Xin Teo, a 22-year-old Malaysian student at Coventry University, was convicted of murdering her newborn baby, whom she placed in a cereal box inside a suitcase at her halls of residence. Teo concealed her pregnancy and gave birth in her bedroom, where her flatmate found her bed covered in blood. She later admitted to killing the child, claiming she was scared of her family finding out and was hearing voices telling her to dispose of the baby.
