Parishioners of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate took over the largest Orthodox church in Cherkasy, the Mikhailovsky Cathedral, after transferring a part of it to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Around 18 thousand supporters of the Moscow church stormed the cathedral, using tear gas and causing a confrontation. Law enforcement arrived to maintain public order and document violations, while plans were made to turn the cathedral into a garrison temple and center for national-patriotic education.

Takeaway fined after serving wrong meat in ostrich curry
Abdul Malik Ali, owner of Amalik Cafe Ltd, was fined after selling an ostrich curry dish containing sheep meat at his Jaipur Spice takeaway restaurant in Thirsk. Ali pleaded guilty to Food Safety Act offences and explained that a temporary chef had mistakenly used the wrong meat.
