East-side trio bowls up to Asia champs

Three east Aucklanders, Craig Newatt, Candice Cassel, and Suzanne Howell, represented New Zealand’s tenpin bowling team, the Katipo, at the recent 2024 Tenpin Bowling Asian Zone Championships in Thailand, aiming to secure a spot for the IBF World Championships. The team of six women and six men competed against 216 bowlers from 22 nations across Asia, with events including singles, doubles, trios, and teams. Despite being amateur players, the New Zealand team members showcased their skill, precision, and dedication on the international stage, with the goal of achieving a perfect score of 300 and securing victories in various events.
