Chancellor Rachel Reeves is expected to announce the end of a temporary 5p cut in fuel duty in her upcoming Budget, with sources suggesting it will take effect from next year. The Treasury department has advised Ms Reeves to also end a 13-year freeze on fuel duty to address a £22bn shortfall in public spending, potentially generating £4.2bn in revenue. However, motoring groups and over 70 Tory MPs have expressed concerns that such a move would have a negative impact on families and economic growth.
