In 1934, Joe Switzer amazed the audience at the Pacific Coast Association of Magicians Convention with an illusion where a dancer appeared to lift her head off her body, which continued to move on its own. This impressive trick, which won Switzer a prize, was made possible by the use of substances that fluoresce under ultraviolet light. The combination of science and magic created a unique and unforgettable performance that left the audience in awe.
