Linda Hamilton thinks it’s time for Terminator franchise to end
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Linda Hamilton is not interested in reprising her role as Sarah Connor and believes it’s time for the Terminator franchise to finally come to an end.

For the last thirty years, the Terminator franchise has been trying to recapture the success of the first two movies, but Linda Hamilton believes it’s time to let it go.

Linda Hamilton, who portrayed Sarah Connor in The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and returned for Terminator: Dark Fate, has no interest in revisiting the role for any potential reboots. “I’m done. I have nothing more to say,” Hamilton told Business Insider. “The story has been told and done to death.”

Hamilton expressed her confusion about why anyone would want to relaunch the franchise, acknowledging that Hollywood is currently focused on reboots.

Last year, Arnold Schwarzenegger also stated that he is done with the franchise but believes it can continue without his involvement. “The franchise is not done. I’m done,” Schwarzenegger said. “Someone needs to come up with a great idea. The Terminator played a significant role in my success, and I always look back on it fondly. The first three movies were great. Number four [Salvation] I was not in because I was governor. Numbers five [Genisys] and six [Dark Fate] didn’t meet my expectations because they were poorly written.”

Hollywood tends to revive franchises, so it’s likely that Terminator will return at some point. James Cameron was reportedly working on a new Terminator movie last year, waiting to see how the AI theme develops. A legitimate reboot of the franchise would be welcomed, but another sequel that relies on convoluted time-travel connections to the first two movies may not be well-received. Give us something fresh or let the franchise fade away. Thumbs up, baby.

Is there still life left in the Terminator franchise?
