Cissy Houston, mother of Whitney, was mourned by Dionne Warwick and other prominent figures at her funeral at New Hope Baptist Church. The ceremony included framed photos of Houston and her coffin placed in front of the pulpit, with the church also hosting Whitney Houston’s funeral years prior. Warwick, Houston’s niece, praised her for giving her the freedom to be herself and often singing backup for Warwick.
