The Green Party has voted unanimously to remove former MP Darleen Tana from Parliament, notifying the Speaker under the Electoral Act after a Special General Meeting endorsed the decision with all 185 delegates present. Party Co-Leader Chlöe Swarbrick and Hon. Marama Davidson urged Tana to resign, citing her departure from the party as affecting the House’s proportionality and triggering the legislation’s next steps. Despite Tana’s court appeal, the Greens proceeded with the vote on using the “party-hopping” legislation to oust her from Parliament.
