UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned attacks on peacekeepers in southern Lebanon by Israeli forces targeting Hezbollah militants. At least five peacekeepers have been injured as Israel targets Hezbollah, with UNIFIL accusing the Israeli military of deliberately firing on its positions. Guterres urged all parties to refrain from actions that put peacekeepers at risk, as Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu called for peacekeepers to be moved out of “harm’s way” due to Hezbollah using them as “human shields.”
