A US soldier, Cole Bridges, was sentenced to 14 years in prison for attempting to provide information to the Islamic State group to aid in attacking American troops in the Middle East. Bridges, a private first class from Ohio, pleaded guilty to trying to support a designated foreign terrorist organization and attempting to murder US military service members. He communicated with an FBI employee posing as an IS supporter, providing training and guidance to purported IS fighters and sharing information on potential targets in New York City and how to attack US forces in the Middle East.
