A High Court judge condemned a father for allowing his defenseless four-year-old son to suffer physical abuse and falsely attributing the child’s fatal injuries to a bunk bed fall, calling it a “shameful betrayal”. The father was sentenced to 7 years in prison for assisting an offender and endangering the child, with concurrent 5-year terms for child cruelty. The child’s mother described her son as having been robbed of his potential, with medical staff noting extensive bruising on his body and concluding that it was the result of deliberate harm, not accidents.
