Two pioneers of artificial intelligence, John Hopfield and Geoffrey Hinton, were awarded the Nobel Prize in physics for their contributions to machine learning. Hinton, known as the Godfather of AI, holds Canadian and British citizenship and works at the University of Toronto, while Hopfield is an American. The recipients acknowledged the transformative impact of AI on society, while also recognizing the potential threats it poses to humanity.
