Alberta First Nations leaders say federal government hid contamination at local dock

Three northern Alberta Indigenous groups have raised concerns about the lack of information from the federal government regarding a contaminated dock site known as The Big Dock in Fort Chipewyan. The dock, owned by Transport Canada, is used for both commercial purposes and recreational activities such as swimming, fishing, and hunting by the community residents. The leaders of the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation and other affected groups are calling for transparency and communication regarding the potential health and environmental risks posed by the contaminated site.
