RTÉ needs to ‘get its act together’, says Taoiseach Simon Harris

Simon Harris emphasized that taxpayers in Ireland have supported RTÉ’s bailout and now expect the station to implement necessary reforms. RTÉ reported a net deficit of €9.1m in 2023, attributing it to a challenging year. The Government has agreed on a new financing programme to ensure stable funding for RTÉ through direct Exchequer top-ups to licence fee sales.
