Mid Canterbury leaders are feeling short-changed on their roading budget, facing a $15 million shortfall in the district’s plan. The National Land Transport Plan has allocated $158.7m for the region for 2024-27, with $113m designated for Ashburton’s second bridge, leaving just $45.7m for the council to spend on the road network over the next three years, falling short of their expected $60.7m budget.
