Builder ordered to pay Christchurch couple $430k for bungled renovation

Builder Simon Washbourne was hired to complete a roof replacement, window, and cladding project in Christchurch, but took 16 months instead of the expected two, with errors totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars. Clients Matt Wilkins and Heather Jenkins were quoted $166,000 for the job, but faced a “catalogue of errors” during the process. Washbourne has been held personally liable for the damages and costs incurred.
