Woman who accused ex-cop of rape has £100,000 compensation case thrown out by judge

In a recent case, a judge dismissed a £100,000 compensation claim brought by a woman who accused a former police officer of rape, citing that the amount sought was excessive and the claim was filed too late. Lady Poole also ruled that the retired officer’s legal fees should be covered by the Scottish Legal Aid Board. Ex-detective sergeant Kevin McKeown was acquitted in 2021 at Glasgow High Court following the allegations.
