United States preparing to announce slew of sanctions against Russia

The United States is preparing to announce a slew of sanctions against Russia following the death of Vladimir Putin’s most fierce critic, Alexei Navalny.

Financier and political activist Bill Browder, who has been targeted by the Kremlin since he was deported from Russia nearly two decades ago, is leading the charge for specific action to be taken.

Previously campaigning for sanctions against Russian human rights abuses, Mr Browder called on Western countries to introduce Magnitsky Acts, named after his former lawyer who suspiciously died in a Russian Prison.

Mr Bowder now wants a NAVALNY Act to ‘hit Putin where it hurts’.

Sky News Australia was joined by Bill Browder to discuss the new sanctions on Russia.
