In a surprising upset, Britain’s Jack Draper defeated 10th seed Alex de Minaur in straight sets 6-3, 7-5, 6-2 at the U.S. Open quarter-final, advancing to his first Grand Slam semi-final. Draper, the 25th seed, made history as the first British man to reach the U.S. Open semi-finals since Andy Murray in 2012 and the first Briton in a Grand Slam semi-final since Cameron Norrie at Wimbledon in 2022. Draper’s impressive run included victories over unseeded opponents without dropping a set in his previous matches at Flushing Meadows.
