The International Visitor Levy in New Zealand is set to nearly triple, rising from $NZD35 to $NZD100 per visitor, as announced by Tourism Minister Matt Doocey. The Tourism Industry Association warns that this significant increase in the tax on tourists will likely lead to 48,000 fewer arrivals each year, impacting the overall tourism industry in the country. Visitors from countries other than Australia and select Pacific Islands will be required to pay the higher levy when entering New Zealand.
