Douglass sets new world record in 50m freestyle, Ledecky finishes second in 800m

Australian swimmer Lani Pallister defeated Katie Ledecky in the women’s 800m freestyle at the 2026 Pan Pacific Championships, marking Ledecky’s first loss in the event at a major international meet. Pallister finished in 8:06.1, with Ledecky second at 8:07.26. Meanwhile, American Kate Douglass broke the 50m freestyle world record twice in one day, winning gold in 23.19 seconds and also earning silver in the 200m breaststroke and gold in the medley relay.
