Damian Grujic was finishing his bartending shift at The Flats Eatery and Drink when a car crashed into the restaurant around 8:30 p.m. CST on August 2. Surveillance footage captured the vehicle nearly colliding with another car before it barreled through the patio and hit the building. Fortunately, no customers were injured, although the 44-year-old driver was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and now faces charges for refusing an impairment test. Grujic noted the incident could have been much worse, as a customer had just left the area where the crash occurred. The restaurant is currently open while the patio remains closed for repairs due to significant damage, including broken windows and furniture. Police discovered an empty alcohol bottle in the driver’s vehicle, indicating possible impairment at the time of the crash.
