Five Gazans killed by Israeli fire during ceasefire

Five Palestinians, including a child, were killed by Israeli army fire on Sunday, as reported by medical sources. Two individuals died in an Israeli strike on a workshop located in the Sabra district, south of Gaza City, where an Israeli drone reportedly fired multiple missiles. Additionally, a 9-year-old girl succumbed to injuries sustained from gunfire in the Nuseirat refugee camp, while another man died from wounds inflicted by Israeli fire near the Bureij refugee camp. Another Palestinian lost his life due to drone strikes east of Khan Younis. Concurrently, the Israeli army continued demolishing Palestinian homes in areas it controls, with loud explosions reported but no injuries confirmed. Since the ceasefire began on October 10, 2025, at least 1,098 Palestinians have been killed, with over 3,500 injured, amidst a broader offensive that has claimed over 73,000 lives and injured more than 173,000 since October 2023.

Why It Matters

The ongoing violence and the recent fatalities highlight the fragile nature of the ceasefire established in October 2025, which has failed to halt hostilities effectively. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has a long history marked by cycles of violence, with significant casualties and destruction on both sides. Since October 2023, the situation has escalated dramatically, with the Israeli military operations causing widespread humanitarian crises, affecting civilian infrastructure in Gaza. The high number of casualties and the persistent demolitions of Palestinian homes underscore the ongoing tensions and instability in the region, impacting the lives of thousands of civilians.
