Man dies after self-immolation protest with Tibetan flag outside UN

A 52-year-old man died after setting himself on fire while holding a Tibetan flag outside the United Nations headquarters in New York. The New York Police Department reported that he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Tencho Gyatso, president of the International Campaign for Tibet, identified him as Lobga Rangzen, a pro-Tibet advocate who had protested China’s new law perceived as threatening ethnic minority rights.
