Hundreds protest in Stockholm against Israeli airstrikes on Gaza

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in central Stockholm to protest Israeli airstrikes on Gaza and humanitarian aid restrictions on Saturday. Organized by various civil society groups, the protesters accused Israel of violating a ceasefire that was established on October 10, 2025, and called for an immediate cessation of military operations. Many carried banners with messages such as “Children are being killed in Gaza” and “End the blockade on food,” while urging the Swedish government to stop arms sales to Israel. A street theatre performance was held in Odenplan Square to emphasize the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. As of Thursday, Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that ceasefire violations had resulted in 1,031 Palestinian deaths and over 3,300 injuries since the conflict escalated on October 8, 2023.

Why It Matters

The ongoing conflict in Gaza has resulted in significant humanitarian crises, with local authorities reporting over 73,000 Palestinian deaths and extensive destruction of civilian infrastructure since the fighting began. The situation has drawn international attention, particularly concerning the impact on civilians, including children, and the blockade that has hindered aid delivery. The protests in Stockholm reflect a broader global response to the crisis, highlighting concerns over military actions and the need for humanitarian support. The call for Sweden to halt arms sales to Israel underscores the growing scrutiny of international military partnerships in conflict situations.
