An INTERPOL-led operation, named Operation Ramz, successfully disrupted the Sniper Dz phishing-as-a-service (PhaaS) platform, which had been operating for over a decade. Conducted between October 2025 and February 2026, the operation involved law enforcement agencies from 13 countries across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. A total of 201 arrests were made, including the platform’s primary operator, known as Guedz. This initiative is part of a broader effort to combat cybercrime and secure digital environments against phishing threats that target individuals and organizations globally.

Why It Matters

The disruption of Sniper Dz highlights the increasing global focus on tackling cybercrime, particularly phishing, which has become a major threat in the digital landscape. Phishing attacks have seen a significant rise, with cybercriminals utilizing sophisticated techniques to deceive victims and harvest sensitive information. The collaboration among 13 countries underscores the necessity of international cooperation in addressing transnational cyber threats. Furthermore, the success of Operation Ramz may set a precedent for future operations aimed at dismantling similar cybercriminal networks, thereby enhancing cybersecurity resilience across regions affected by such illicit activities.
