France moves to deport immigrant students amid mental health concerns

In Saint-Denis, a suburb of Paris, many immigrant students graduating from technical high schools face deportation orders instead of job offers. Recent cases include Mariem, a 19-year-old medicine student from Tunisia, and Mohammed, a 19-year-old electrical engineering student from Morocco, both receiving “Obligation de Quitter le Territoire Francais” letters. Despite exemptions for students in critical job sectors, an estimated 50 students have been affected by a backlog in immigration paperwork and stricter visa regulations, leading to increased deportation orders in France.
