Mexico and CIA deny US assassination campaign against drug cartels

Mexico’s government and the CIA have denied a CNN report alleging U.S. intelligence agents’ involvement in targeted assassinations of drug cartel members in Mexico. The report claimed CIA operatives participated in attacks against cartel syndicates, including a car explosion that killed an alleged Sinaloa Cartel member. Both the CIA and Mexico’s Secretary of Security emphasized the importance of cooperation under principles of sovereignty and mutual respect, rejecting any notion of covert operations by foreign agencies.
