Philippine senator escapes arrest warrant from ICC linked to drug war

Senator Ronald Dela Rosa of the Philippines has sought refuge in the Senate after the International Criminal Court unsealed an arrest warrant related to his involvement in the country’s drug war under former President Rodrigo Duterte. The warrant, issued on November 6, charges Dela Rosa as an “indirect co-perpetrator” in crimes against humanity linked to thousands of killings from 2016 to 2018. Dela Rosa, who briefly resurfaced to participate in Senate proceedings, fled upon encountering law enforcement agents and later appealed for public support on social media.
