Key defender Esava Ratugolea is among four Port Adelaide players expected to return from injury in the upcoming state league match. Ratugolea has been sidelined since suffering a knee injury in round four. Joining him in the anticipated return are fellow defenders Harrison Ramm (ankle), Tom Cochrane (hamstring), and Tom Anastasopoulous (concussion). Assistant coach Hamish Hartlett expressed optimism about the returning players, noting that their presence will enhance the team’s depth after a challenging start to the season. Port Adelaide, currently positioned 13th with three wins and five losses, is coming off a narrow one-point loss to rival Adelaide. They will face the Western Bulldogs, who sit just above them in 12th place, in their next match.

Why It Matters

The return of key players like Esava Ratugolea is crucial for Port Adelaide as they navigate a challenging season. Historically, injuries can significantly impact a team’s performance, especially in close competitions where depth is vital. The Power’s current record of three wins and five losses highlights the struggles they’ve faced, particularly in tightly contested matches against rivals. With the SANFL providing a platform for returning players to regain match fitness, their contributions could be pivotal in improving the team’s standings in the league.
